VOL. 2      NO. 1      NAS AGANA, GUAM
April 1968

Some people get concerned when a military barracks gets to looking too unmilitary. These people would like to see trash receptacles used, regulations observed and gear stowed in its proper place. Predictably, a complete lack of cooperataion from barracks residents causes some of the people to try harder.

This happened one night not too long ago when the barracks residents had to stay up a little later than usual performing tasks to which they were not accustomed. This experience should not be repeated if everyone will take that extra step to keep the barrakcs squared away and help those who are trying to do their job. With just a little cooperation, peace and tranquility shall reign again.

Signed,
     THE BARRACKS OFFICER

For those of you who have found that there's not enough work to do here in VW-1, and have secured employment (on "the beach"), to keep your work hunger satiated, we'd like to say, Gov. Guam wants their 'fair share.' Individual or joint Government of Guam income tax returns must be filed by the 15th of April, which isn't too far away. However, if you made less then $600.00, you will be comforted to know that you don't have to file. This total, naturally, excludes any pay you get from the Navy; only civilian compensation counts.

You can get your Guam income tax forms by dropping by the Finance Department in the Government Building (across from the Agana lockup...everybody knows where that is). If you can't make it down there, the next best thing is to mail them a request for a form, enclosing a stamped, self-addressed envelope. And don't worry, they'll be sure to send it.
