FACTS ABOUT BARBER'S POINT

Naval Air Station, Barber's Point, is comprised of 3,693 acres of coral plains. It is named for Captain Henry Barber of the British Brig "Arthur", which was wrecked during a tropical storm in 1796 on a coral reef near the present site of the air station. Barber's Point is one of the Navy's newest and largest air stations. Construction was begun two months before the Pearl Harbor attack, and it was commissioned April 15, 1942.
