Joseph A. Gemza, Age 76 of Cottage Grove MN. Died June 7, 2010. Joseph Retired from the USAF after 20 years of service. He also retired from Unisys after 18 years. Joseph was an active member of St. Marks Church community. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen; children, Christina (Douglas) Longen, Michelle (Robert) Ott, Joseph (Cindy) Gemza, Jr., and Angela Gemza.
Joseph A. Gemza AT2. Joe was assigned to VW-1 at NAS Barbers Point from Nov. 3, 1952 to Nov. 25, 1953 at which time he was transferred to VW-1 Detachment 'Able' (VW-1 Det 'A') at NS Sangley Point, Cavity City, Republic of the Philippines, arriving on Nov. 30, 1953 . On June 1, 1954 VW-1 Det 'A' was renamed VW-3. Joe was transferred out of VW-3 on Oct. 28, 1954 to another duty station before being discharged from the Navy and enlisting in the Air Force in September 1955. Joe retired from the Air Force as a Sr. Master Sgt. with 20 years of service.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
