• AG3 Richard R Rowan's Enlisted Flight Training and Operational Log. Starting left to right: Some of Rowan's flight logs from January of 1965 through April of 1965 include flights that were in the combat zone. However flight purpose codes are not recorded on many of these entries. The combat flights typically originated and terminated in the Philippines with flight times of 15 hours, they were given flight codes of 3Q7 or 3Q5. When flying under night instrument conditions the flight codes were 4Q7 or 4Q5. VW-1 Was not permitted to list them as combat missions (coded "X") until May of 1965.
