- Many servicemen and family members took the mosquito infested trek through the jungles to Talofofo falls in
Guams interior.
Japanesse soldiers from WWII were found hiding in this jungle area of Guam up until 1972.
The book "28 Years in the Guam Jungle" tells the story of Japanese holdout on Guam, Shoichi Yoko, who was found
in 1972. Other titles / discriptions of this book list it as: The last Japanese soldier: Corporal Yokoi's 28
incredible years in the Guam jungle.

- Photo on left: One of my VW-1 shipmates pictured at one of the several Latte Stone Sites on Guam. The
origin and purpose of these stones is lost in the history of Guam. These stones were hewn from coral and
surmounted with a bowl shaped coral cap. They stood 4 - 8 feet tall and were always in rows parallel to the
ocean or a running stream shore line. Sorry buddy but I've forgotten your name.
