Our business meeting started off with an opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the group singing the National Anthem. Leading us in singing was Carl Bryant and his grandson, Chauncey Matthews. Sally Metzger and Pete Wasmund could clearly hear Chauncy's voice during the singing and wanted to hear more. Chauncey sung a solo of "God Bless America". Chauncey was given a standing ovation and plenty of hugs as he walked from the front to return to his grandparents table.
A part of the business meeting is electing the Officers of the VW-1 All Hands Alumni Association. The nominations were Ed Metzger for President, Pete Wasmund for Vice President, Sally Metzger for Secratary/Treasurer and Dick Lee as Chaplin. The vote reaffimed these candidates.
We went through our selection process to determine the location of the next reunion. Among the cities being considered was Nashville TN. Branson MO. and Colorado Springs CO. Colorado Springs was the clear winner after a strong presentation of the city's attributes by Lee Thompson.
