WHAT TO DO ON LIBERTY

The island of Oahu offers many picturesque scenes that are well worth a few snapshots to send to the folks back home.

Swimming is a year-round recreation. On many of the beaches you can rent surf boards and learn to ride the breakers. Fishing, both deep sea and surf, is an ever popular sport here.

The Armed Services YMCA at Richards and Hotel streets in Honolulu arranges conducted tours around the island, and there you can get information about the many activities here designed especially for servicemen's relaxation. Rooms are also available at moderate prices.

Fort De Russey, on Waikiki, maintains beach and clothes checking facilities for servicemen, their dependents and guests. They have movies, dances, and rent cottages to servicemen and their families on leave. Dormatory facilities are available to single servicemen at very low rates.

There is a serviceman's rest camp at Wainae, which is north of Barber's Point, where ocean swimming, post exchange services, and cottage rentals are available.

In Honolulu, public transportation makes it easy to get around. Bus and trackless trolly service to most parts of the city run frequently until about 2330. Taxi service is available at all hours to all parts of the island.

The Oahu Railway Company runs a bus from Barber's Point to Honolulu every hour. The last bus for the base departs Honolulu about 2400. Check schedules for latest revisions in departure times.

If you want information about the Islands, the Hawaii Visitors Bureau maintains two offices in Honolulu at 2051 Kalakaua ave., and 717 Bishop st.

CALLING HOME

You can telephone to any place in the world from Honolulu. For information on overseas and inter-island telephone calls, contact the Mutual Telephone company on Alakea st., in downtown Honolulu.

MAKING A PHONE CALL TO BARBER'S POINT

HOW CAN YOU LEARN IN YOUR SPARE TIME

If you're interested in gaining knowledge to aid you in your Navy job, or to get college and high school credits, you can take USAFI correspondence courses. Many classroom courses are offered through the United States Armed Forces Institute, and they are available evenings at Hickam Air Force Base, as are extension courses offered by the University of Hawaii. Jackson College of Honolulu offers credit courses at Barber's Point. for further information on these courses, contact the squadron Education Officer.
