As you entered the banquet hall this evening you may have noticed a small table here, in a place of honor. It is set for one. Let me explain, The military is filled with symbolism. This table is our way of symbolizing the fact that members of our profession of Arms are missing from our midst. They are unable to be with us this evening so we remember them because of their dedication to our Country.

“This table set for one is small.--symbolizing frailty of one serviceman alone against his enemies”

The table cloth is white-- symbolizing the purity of their intentions to respond to their country’s call to arms.

There is a Holy Bible on the small table. The bible is symbolic of the devote faith of the men and women in an all powerful, all present, all knowing, and eternal God, who is always standing in the shadows, keeping watch above his own.
